It’s one freaking thing after another….
Nice day on the river and the trim up won’t work.
Looks like my set up is different.
Question. When there is a leak into the bilge, is there a most likely culprit? ie. Loose flare nuts,
Pump seal, split hose.

I’ll be working practically blind on this and I’d rather be pointed somewhere first. Also with this damn boat set up, gonna be hard to fill the pump.
No external resevoir. 1981 Mercruiser 120. Thanks

To get to the leaking line the trim block under the gimbal housing has to come down. Remove the 2 lock nuts and you may have to pry on it but it will come down. A 3/8” flare nut wrench should loosen the lines up. The most forward line is the high pressure “up” line. If there is no source for a new line you can use a 3/16” pre flared line from NAPA and bend it to fit to get it fixed until a new stainless line is obtained. Refill the pump with power steering fluid.

Thanks a lot for the reply. How hard is to to fish a line through the transom, what with the angles on the fittings and such?
I can barely see in the engine compartment.

As I mentioned before, the leak is totally in the bilge. No tell tale signs of leak on the outside.

Once the trim block is down you will see that it is real easy to feed the line through the hole. Wrap tape around the open end before pushing or pulling the line through, there is a lot of dirt in that area.

Yer a godsend. I assumed it to be a nightmare of monumental proportions. I’d been reading about engine removal and whatnot. I’ll keep you posted. Thx. Mike.

Is your shifting adjuster located along side of your valve cover or on the transom? If its on the transom like mine your leak is coming from the circular shift shaft in the picture
