Trim Motor

Hi all....I need to replace the trim motor on my xr4
150 mercury. 1983
Does the motor have to come off completely?

I was able to get the entire PTT unit off my '93 Merc V6, by removing one of the transom clamp pieces. I stuck a piece of wood under the tilt tube to support the motor, as I removed the one transom clamp.

Thank you...I was able to get the Trim motor off, by doing exactly that. Arco Electric did a GREAT job of getting me the correct motor , delivered overnight!..Then I contacted them with a tech question, and they came through again. Took me longer than I thought it would, be greatly satisfying. Thanks to everyone for the input and help
