The Brushes look OK so that's good, 2 options you can get a new trim motor online, or get yourself a solder iron and some solder make sure your connection does not touch the body of the starter or it will short out, when you use it. I have also used a new piece of wire and ran it back to the solenoid, down side is that you usually have to tear open the rubber or EPDM sheathing around the wires. you can use heavy heat shrink tubing to seal it. I will say the wiring is thicker and it is not a bad idea to have a soldering iron capable of dual heat ranges. I have a Weller but radio shack does sell some decent inexpensive style dual heat irons
Good luck!

now that i have it open should i use brake cleaner to remove the dirt and then spray with wd40? should i add some marine grease on the center bearing?

Take it to a starter repair/rebuild shop.
They should be able to reattach the wire.
The rivet might be replaceable.
