trim motor short

i have a '93 115 johnson, i parked the boat after a day out one weekend, the following weekend when i tried to use it my battery was disconnected and when i tried reconnecting it the trim motor would trim up on its own. i figured the corroded switch was causing the short so i replaced the switch on the console. after reconnecting battery it didnt happen till after using the switch a few times. i've never seen this problem before, hopefully someone has. whats causing the short?
