My trim motor runs and raises the motor but when I try to lower the motor it makes no sound and motor won't go down on my 1978 150 HP Mercury Black Max. What could be wrong?

Check your UP relay also. They are interlocked so that a defective UP relay can cause the down to not work.
If swapping them reverses the issue, replace them both.

That's gonna have up and down "solenoids". Not relays. They are separate for up and down. Not interlocked. One is probably bad..........check all connections first. Make sure you have constant power on both large red wires goin' to tha solenoids. Check for power on tha larger "green" wire when ya hit tha down button. No power there will indicate its bad.
