Using all your help, i determined my trim motor is no good and so must remove it. My question is, i removed the 3 bolts from either side and disconnected the wiring from the top, but it still wont pull out, it looks like the transom mount for my outboard needs to be pulled apart to get the trim motor to fit. Will the hydraulic arm in the middle pull out or how do i disconnect that? Am i literally pulling out the whole assembly? Any help would be great, tks guys

I just did this last week and I had to take the left side mount off or at least take the transom bolts and steering nut loose and move it aside 1" to make room, after that it was easy. I didn't take the ram loose. You will loose some fluid and have to refill when done.

TY dan, that worked great! Now the 3 wires going into the top of the motor, should i just cut them off then tape them back on after it is fixed, or is there a better way to do this? I can imagine there is a heck of a lot of water in this area. The previous owner just had a ball of black tape and duct tape and marine grease in a big ball that i had to cut through, ty

My new motor had a long enough harness to make the splice under the hood near the relays, if yours isn't long enough I would solder them then spread on some liquid electrical tape then slide shrink wrap over the connections.

By the way, how much of this assembly will the mechanic need? How do i get the center piston disconnected from either the trim motor or the outboard ? On the top its connected to the outboard by a pin that doesnt seem to have a way to remove, and on the bottom by a pin I can punch out with a hammer and a little stainless steel hydraulic line that screws off, is that where i disconnect it? Buggers b4 me stripped the hell out of that little line too, lol.
