Hi folks. Looking for some insight that goes beyond DIY youtube and manuels. At the end of last season, trim was working as expected. Second to last run, a stick got caught inbetween the wires of my trim sending unit (starboard puck) and ripped them out. Lost the trim gauge obviously, but that was the only change. Motor still trimmed as before. Trailered the boat home, did my maintenance, winterized, trimmed the motor down for storage and forgot about all things boating for a couple months.
This season...uncovered the boat, cleaned it all up, dewinterized everything and was all set to bring it back to our slip. I remembered the mishap last season and honestly got lazy and made a call (prob mistake number 1) to just got without the trim gauge this season. I hardley move the trim more then a second up or down during the season, no beaching or anything like that.
Issue I'm having is when I went to raise the motor to tow, all I got was a click. Using either trailer trim or up trim, nothing but a click. Down works fine. I couldnt think of anything that changed between lay up last year and start up this year that could have changed this. Only thing I could think of I did, which was taking the trim limiting switch apart. Noticed the contact points were not aligned so I brushed them up and reinstalled so they were in contact. This enabled me to trim the motor up. So, I said "Cool" and got in the car with my waiting kids and wife to get to the lake (mistake number 2).
Now in the water, its seems I have lost the ability to trim up using either the trailer button and the trim up button...and my trailer is stored 4 towns over. (mistake number 3)
Any insight to what the issue could be? I read about the trim limiter slipping gears and causing issues like this. Also, does the trim sender not being contected cause any issues besides the gauge? Can the trim limiter puck be adjusted/removed while in the water?
Sorry for the book.

Test the “up” solenoid with a test light. It will be the one with the blue wires.
Those small style solenoids always give trouble. Have someone hold the trim up switch and probe both sides with the larger the nuts. You will see that the current is not going through to the motor side.
