trim gauge 85 yamaha ae

my trim and tilt gauge only ever goes down half way , the rim sender and gauge appear to be ok , the cabling is ok , any ideas , it's the bottom half of the gauge that i realy need ...<br /><br />this is on a mid 80's yamaha 85hp ae t@t engine

Tilt up your engine and lock it there.<br />You can see if the meter is working when you move the sender up and down.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but the Yamaha manual has detailed information for checking out the whole indicator system. Mine went out, but I went ahead and lived with it til I sold it a month ago.

had engine up and moved sensor up and down , still only goes down half way , i now think it's the gauge and have ordered a new gauge to try..
