Trim Cylinder tube guide stuck

I ordered a rebuild kit for my pre alpha cylinders on my Glastron Carlson. Once I got everything apart, and inspected, I noticed I had 2 o rings left. I once again referred to the manual, and yep, sure enough, there is a tube guide that has the 2 o rings that I have left over. In service manual #4, under Mercruiser power trim, pg 19A, step 8, it states to use a wire hook, or tap end of tube against a block of wood to remove tube guide if it remains in tube. Well, I tried a coat hanger, and I cant get any kind of hook to go into the hole. If I leave it straight, its small enough to go in the hole, but not grab anything, I also slammed the end of the empty tube against a block of wood for 20 minutes, and it doesn't look like it moved at all. Does anyone have any suggestions to get this out? I have not removed the other side yet. Its on page 150 of this manual.

First off, you don't have a 'pre-Alpha', (nobody does, because there is no such thing). You have an MC-1....

Yes, that inner tube can be a SOB to get out. Just keep persisting, it will eventually come out. A gentle pry between the inner tube and the outer tube can sometimes loosen the 'O' ring grip enough to let the tube come out, but you have to be very careful not to damage the outer...

I have a self tapping screw welded to a light rod, that I thread into the hole and pull them out.

That's an excellent idea wrench3. Any ideas on what size screw?

I think it's a #8, but I don't have one here in a package to compare it too. Sorry!

I partially threaded a #8 screw in the guide and then used hydraulic pressure via a grease gun to dislodge. JK
