I have a 1985 Mercruiser Mr 200. I recently purchased a set of used trim cylinders to replace the badly corroded and inoperable ones currently on the boat. The question is should the rams move in and out by hand when detached from the boat or will they only move when hooked up to the trim lines/ pump. They will not budge at the moment. I was 'told' they worked prior to removal from the boat they were on.

Sometimes they'll take a set,+ Not want to Move,......

I'd attach the Lines,+ Try them.......

Quick test -
If you have a air compressor and air gun, shoot about 30 lbs. of air
in each oil line, ram should extend and retract.
After rebuild I do this to test cylinder.
