Trim cylinder help

I rebuilt the tilt/trim valve body already. The system runs good and has no leak down. However, when I am trimming the motor, fluid leaks from the trim cylinder ram I think its called. I'm assuming it's a broken Oring. How much of a job is it to remove the cylinder compared to the valve body and motor.

freshwater=easy
saltwater = way beyond difficult

Why is that? Because with salt water, there are more things that need to be replaced?
