I recently purchased a boat that had been sitting for 4 years. After doing over $800.00+ they have now informed me that I need the trim cylinder replaced. The question that I have is if this is something I can do myself, and if so how do I go about doing it? The forum has helped me before, so I’m hoping for some help now. Thanks
Charlie

Re: trim cyclinder replacement

Probably, but the cylinder cost is 90% on the job so why bother. And some of the horror stories of backyard mechanics, and trim stuff should make ya think twice. And helps if you state what motor we are discussing here

As stated the cylinder is way expensive.

However, it is an easy job if you have the tools. Basically it is through bolted on the bottom and the lines are run to the pump. Kinda hard to line things up but it can be done. Mine is being welded so i can get a screw to hold 1 of the 5 corners.
