Just replaced the lift hose on my trim motor. Question, while filling the res. the book says to loosen the vent cap on the trim motor next to the fill screw. The book never mentions tightening the vent back down after bleeding the system. Is the vent screw to remain loose? Thanks for any help.

Yes the trim vent must be left open so oil is not forced in to the motor on the pump

Thanks Laddies. Do I just put the screw back in finger tight to keep dirt out?

While were on the subject of trim hoses, what is the purpose of the springs on the hoses?
