we have a Yamaha ox66 250 hp with 600+ hours. we came in from fishing all day yesterday, running, trolling, anchored on fishing spots, etc. and returned almost to the dock and put her in neutral to prep for docking. finished prep, put her into idle and tried to trim up for shallower water at which point we lost power to all gauges and bottom machine (separately wired), engine cut out, no power to trim, essentially no power to any system. unable to restart engine and gauges remain out.
several weeks prior we replaced helm seals and needed to disconnect some wires from a fuse buss (no idea if that is what it is called), and left some non-essentials disconnected (12v cig recep, just small stuff) to complete the task. we have run the boat 3 trips since then with no issues what so ever until yesterday after a full day of boating.
No wires seem to be loose under cowling, main engine fuse good (battery to fuse to ? engine harness?).
i am not an expert with electrical (ie: i know that the engine might have a solenoid, but wouldn't know what it looks like/location) i have rebuilt car engines, but...not the same thing.
does anybody have any suggestions besides taking it to the man.
