trim and tilt

my trim and tilt will go up and down ok but my problem is that once it's up it won't stay up. i've replaced all the line's drain and flushed the pump put in new oil.any i would would be great<br /> thank you<br /> kenny king

is it a omc they have clutches in them they might be worn. or if you have taken it apart those clutches are under pressure,you need a big c clamp and socket to install the snap ring good luck

Hyd cylinder piston seals, or pilot check valve seals in pump, Merc does not service pump, they like to sell new ones.

Bad valve in your pump. Under pressure, it does exactly what its supposed to. When power is off, oil flows back and drops unit.<br /><br />You can get a used one for about $150. A new Merc one will run you north of $400.<br /><br />If you decide to replace new, try these guys. They have quality parts for less than the dealer: http://www.arcomarine.com/
