First off I just replaced the transom on our ski boat and being a bit paranoid I bought a "transom saver bracket".The instructions with the bracket says after lowering the motor onto the bracket you should lower the "rams" on the t/t slightly, this is a safety proceedure in case the bracket falls off during trailering the "t/t rams will prevent the motor from "slamming down". I have always trailered the boat in the up position using the "lock" mechanism with the "rams" completely lowered and stored the boat with the engine in the down position, with the rams also completely lowered. Reading some posts on this site some people with t/t problems seem to relate their problems to the fact that they have left their engines in the fully up position using the "engine lock" to hold it there, while lowering the "rams" part way but not all the way down, could this result in t/t problems later on, I'm just curious or maybe a bit paranoid.
