trim and tilt piston seals

I've got an '86 Yamaha v4 115. Runs great. Just noticed that there seems to be some hydrolic fluid leaking around one of the tilt and trim pistons. Looks like the seal between the cylinder and piston is the culprit.

To be more specific on location. It appears there are three hydrolic cylinders that move the engine up and down. One is the tilt, like for all the way up. The other two are for trim. These two are parallel. It is one of these leaking.

Question 1- how critical of an issue is this?

Question 2- is this an relatively easy part to service?

Thanks

1. The oil comes out and after a while you cant lift it anymore because there´s no oil for that.

2. You need a special wrench to open the cap where the seal is. There is also a o-ring. Replace both.

...unless you're on Wadmalaw Island, where there's no "O" rings, much less special tools. In that case you could jusk keep adding hydraulic oil until it got so bad you had to fix it, and that might be months, depending on how much you use the trim.

G'luck, c/6, and tell'um all "howdy".

Hooty
