98 150 40amp sys, trigger test correctly per OEM specs, OEM dose'nt give info for this when moving throttle arm, should there be a change in the resistance during the travel, mine is reading exactly the same at both ends of travel there are changes in between?

No... all your doing is measuring resistance of coils in trigger.

don't discount the switch box.

The readings you were getting while moving trigger are due to voltages you are inducing from the movement. (normal)

Re: trigger test

have sw/boxes on hand,, inner sw/box shows signs of arching reluctant to put them on until I am certain of the root cause.

you likely will never be sure of the root cause until you swap components. Intermittent double firing doesn't often show its ugly head with meter tests.
God hates a coward.....swap switch boxes.
