Re: transom seal

easy - can be done in the driveway. With a lot of hot, soapy water, the new one can be stretched over the leg if you just remove the trim tab, water director covers, and propeller.

Do not buy aftermarket - spend the extra $30 or so for the OEM one and it will last 20 years.

Removing the drive on the Stringer is pretty easy. You've got some added mechanical shift "stuff" that I'm unfamiliar with (mine's electric shift) but the drive should come off very easy.

As long as you don't damage the $750 shift cable (when available), yes, removing the drive is quite easy. Take the battery out of the boat before doing anything with the shift cable.

Like Howard said, buy the OEM one.
I was hired to install one. The guy cheaped out and it split while installing. He had to buy another, the second one was OEM and it went on right.
There is a top and bottom.
