I need your input. What's your opinion of transom savers. I want to protect my transom and the seals, etc. in my power tilt. 17' alu. walleye boat with 50 horse. Seems to make sense to me but one guy at dealer says they are bad news. You fellows know a lot more about this stuff than I. Thank you.
Bob

Re: Transom Savers

The best way to transport motor is in the lowered position. But you are unable to do this with many boats, because of ground clearance issues.

The second best way is with the engine supported with the proper transom saver.

I never heard anyone say they are bad news.

If you do a search here on transom saver, or motor support, you will have plenty of reading.

Re: Transom Savers

Bob Pearse,
I would totaly disagree with what that dealer told you. I have just bought my transome saver this week. All I can tell you is that it is a noticeable difference from the stock supports to this one. The engine is more stable and it will not sway from side to side. For only $35.00 at Academy (the top of the line with spring shock and rubber bungie to tie it to the lower unit of the engine) you can't go wrong at all. They had lower models from the 15-20 dollar range. I would get one no matter what outboard engine I had. JMHO......Hope this helps
