I need to go to a transom saver to trailer my boat due to lack of ground clearence. Looked at them today and they all said for "trim & tilt motor only". They all rested on the roller, while the top is tied off to the motor I can see if bumped the bottom could bounce off the roller. I this why they say trim and tilt motors only since they have restricted bounce? If the bottom was secured to the roller then I think they should work. Trailering with just the tilt lock on makes me nervous. I am thinking of adjusting the transom saver to provide ground clearence needed be it short of the full tilt position. Am I on the right track?

Re: TRANSOM SAVER

Most, if not all, transom savers have a small wire that attaches at the trailer end to keep it from coming loose. Plus, you will bungee the motor down to prevent it from bouncing loose. There are "Bolt-on models", too....

this is the bolt-on model I use - got it at BPS with both ends in the same package - it still says "power-tilt motors only" - but if you can secure the motor to the transom saver it oughtta work.

Re: TRANSOM SAVER

I agree with both rick and jtexas.....mine has a wire that keeps it from coming off of that roller, but I replaced it with something stronger. I havent had any issues yet, and mine doesnt have power tnt
