Transom Saver?

I just purchased a 07 Zodiac Classic MK II with a 30hp Tohastu 4 stoke. Pretty heavy motor(for that boat) I believe. I have a pacific trailer that I am currently fitting and adjusting for the boat. Most of the time the trip to launch is under 5 mins. However I will be taking a couple of longer trips as well. I noticed a bit of torque (to say the least) generated with bumps on the road. If anybody with knowledge and experience in this area could chime in that would be great. I searched previous threads and found one pretaining to my issue. But just checking to if anybody else has a similer set-up and what they did. Thanks
PS. No oil in the cylinders!

Well, I'm not familiar with that trailer, but if you have to tilt your motor up when trailering, I would absolutely use a transom saver. If you can leave the motor vertical, that's best, but clearance is an issue obviously. I trailer my inflatable with an 18hp 4 stroke secured with a transom saver all the time. Never had a problem.

Here is a nice idea for you .... it is attached to my trailer permanently and swivels down so it is out of the way when you wanto launch the boat .....

I could transport boat with motor in the down position. However, the torque is still there non the less. By no means is my commute to a launch like baja. But it is bumpy

Re: Transom Saver?

A transom saver is a small investment to protect the integrity of your transoms glued seams. Also, be sure that the transom is physically supported by the trailer bunks. This can be inconvenient, but I adjusted my bunks, the position of the forward winch post and the trailer axle position to get a properly balanced trailer that supports the transom correctly.
