Is it possible to reverse the head or foot on a transom mount motor so that it can be used on the bow? I have requested this info from the manufacturers but have received no reply. Thanks.

Richard

Yes, RSmith, it can be done on some models but not others. Open the head and inspect the wiring, etc. see what a 180 degree rotation would do to the controls, etc. Mini-transoms that mount up front are sold by most marine supply stores.

Good luck.
JB

Thanks! Is there any way to find out if this can be reversed before buying a new motor. I already have a bracket in place.
I don't have room to mount a traditional bow mount on my boat.

Richard

If it's a Minn Kota you can turn the shaft easily by taking the shaft screw out and reversing it. I'm not sure about other brands.

Minn Kota is easy to switch, Motorcraft a little more difficult but can be done. I did it and it works MUCH better in the front on a 14'er I had.
