Transom leak

I am posting here because I would like to follow. Same problem. Changed bellows, No leaks there. Filled bilge with water (inside engine compartment), slight leak outside, bottom of outdrive between the transom plate and the hull. 3M 5200 tonight. Will tell progress in about a week. Cure time for 5200. By the way, shifting cable and sleeve are good. Boat is a 1986 4.3L Four Winns. Fresh Water.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,....Donno what you intend to follow, that thread has been Dead for 5 years or so,....

If you've got a leak, 'tween the transom housin', 'n the fiberglass,...
You've most likely got a Rotten transom,....

No amount of 5200 is gonna fix it,....

Ya know, I'm beginning to think that's the case. I have been asking questions all around. I'll tell you some more. The boat was purchased new in 1986 by me. Used in in upstate New York lakes in the mountains and on the Hudson River. I'll bet it doesn't have 200 hours on it. Always kept in the garage when done using it. Was winterized and put in storage for the past 10 years. Pulled it out and towed it to Hartwell Lake in Anderson SC. Started right up. WAS AMAZED!!!!!!!! Ran about three times ( day trips around the lake) until the fuel pump diafram gave up after 28 years. Took Carb apart. FINE! Replaced fuel pump, runs fine. Put it in the water again this spring and slight leak compared to last year, when I had no leaks. that's the history. Boat, motor, and hull, like new. WELL WORTH REPAIRING IF NEEDED.
