transom leak

my 1995 has a transom leak. i have been redoing this boat inside and out. someone told me it was the gimbal bearing do i need to buy anything else to sole this problem. Oh yeah it is a mercruiser 350 alpha 1. any solutions?

Sorry the gimble bearing will not cause a leak, it will make noise and seize up over time. More than likely you have a bad u-joint bellow or shift bellow. Check the sticky's at the top of this forum. We like to help but it also help's for you to learn as much as you can also!

Take a screwdriver and press the fiberglass around where the lower unit exits the boat from inside. If you can "flex" it, you may be looking at a rotting transom. If not, you've eliminated that as a cause.
