I am looking at a 21' mariner CC that doesnt have a motor or pretty much anything else for that matter other than the trailer its sitting on and the center console. He told me it has a 20" transom. I had a 16' ss that had a 70hp evinrude on it. I think a 70 might not be enough for the 21' but it will get me going for a while till I find a suitable replacement. I guess my question is if anyone can measure their transom that has a 16' ss. The motor I have is in my dads barn so I cant get to it at the moment or I would just measure it.

This is the one I am looking at

Re: Transom Height

The 16' SS has a 20" transom. Your outboard will work however you will be underpowered. You really want to be 70% of the rated HP or more for the hull.

Thanks
I found a 115 evinrude with controls for $400 I need to go check out. I think that will get it across the water pretty good. I assume the max would be a 140 but I'm not sure.

Re: Transom Height

Depends on the year. My '76 18' SS is rated for 150 which is sweet because 150 gets you into V6 territory.
