Just out of curiosity - did you put the caulk on the damaged portion of the splashwell?

Re: transom going bad?

I'm just wondering if the splashwell was originally intended to be a part of the transom structure. Its hard to tell on your boat, without being able to see if it is fastened to the transom on the underside.

My point is basically that having to do something to solve a problem (as in caulking something), when that was not how the boat was built originally, can serve as an indication that there is a problem.

there is a flange on the under side with what looks to just stainless wood screws so when i redo it im gonna replace them with 1/4-20 stainless nuts and bolts
