Transom bracket broke - Help

OK, I messed up. Last night on the way home I forgot to engage the motor (50 hp force on a 16ft fish & ski). I hit a bump and the motor came crashing down. It broke the bolt that fits into the bracket that holds the engine in the "tilted up" position. What do they call this? I have looked and looked, but I can't find a replacement on the net. I'm ready to double nut a bolt in the hole! Help.

You should really think about making/buying a transom saver. It's just a solid steel bar that fits btwn leg and trailer ..
You can do much more damage to your transom by letting the motor rock, even to the extent of tearing the motor off the boat.

I agree. I am going to look into a transom saver. My boat has a bar that locks the motor up, but I just failed to engage the motor. I would like to find a replacement bolt for the tilt bracket. I looked at it tonight and it's just a bolt with a head on it that allows the bracket to slide on it. I just don't know what you call this bolt.

What sort of Force is it ? Merc, Chrysler made ?
I would suggest looking in a parts listing site for the part no and then sourcing it from the closest dealer. The lock that holds the motor up shouldn't be used to transport it unless you strap it down with a ratchet type nylon strap. You need to stop it from rocking up and down. (I know it's a bit late to mention that now)

It's a '90 Chrysler Force. You are right and I'm going to get one tomorrow. The motor does have another U shaped bracket that actually supports the engine, it just fell down when I hit the bump and the small bracket took the force of the motor coming down. I have looked all day and can't find a shred of info on this part, and every boat I've seen has them. I guess I'm the only idiot that's ever broke one. Why do all of the ads for the transom savers say "For power trim only"?

Don't know why there would be a difference between power trim and manual transom savers, but if yours is manual, all you need is a solid steel bar with a piece of 90deg angle steel welded on the engine leg end and some sort of locater for the trailer.
The rod that is broken (Not familar with Force) should be able to be turned in stainless by a local metal fabricator if you can't get replacement.
