I can't seem to get the second half of Service Manual 3 to download so I have to bother you guys again. What type of fluid will go into my merc trany? Its a 24' Regal..1978...trany is behind a 454...in front of a TRS. The fluid is watery...boat has been sitting forever and a day, and is now my project. Can I do the usual plug drain and fill from the top, or is there an upside down filling technique needed? Thanks!

Re: Transmission help

If you have a MercTrans you are essentially doomed. The adhesive clutch material is water soluble and once water enters the transmission it is only a matter of time. The trans takes Ford type F (two quarts) and will drain from the port side (5/16 allen). All parts and tech advise at www.kcmarinetr.com
