Hello again.

So i've a 1985 rinker 21' OMC outdrive and Cobra Moter (v6 4.7L) And today i was trying to remove the outdrive and ran in to bit of an issue w/ the transmission cable. not sure how to go about getting one end of it disconnected form ither the boat or the drive its self? :p Sorry if the question is to vague for an answer, pretty new to boating. if there are any more details i need to provide please share!

Thanks again!
Chris.

What kind of outdrive U got?
Perhaps it's a Cobra? since it is paired with 4.3?

Re: Transmission cable, OMC outdrive.

you need to disconnect the cable from the shift converter box behind the carburetor, atop the intermediate.
Then you need to remove the cable from the intermediate without destroying it.
Lots of penetrating oil, and finesse. And a manual never hurt. Remove the retaining clip before pulling on it.
Easiest way to destroy it is to leave the battery in the boat. There are many live 12V+ terminals and a bare shift cable wire will be snaking around all over, so do yourself a favor and remove the batt right out of the boat.

p.s. if you're removing it to install the transom seal, you don't really need to.
