I have two transducers on my boat. One is shoot through the hull, unknown brand, and ther other is standard mount from a lowrance x65. I am using a piranna 3 (humminbird) depth finder. I have tryed hooking up to both and adjusting acording to directions and I can not get good readings at higher that idle speeds. It will show 350 ft in 40 ft of water and then show 0 ft. Is it impossible to obtain good reading at high speeds, or is it a bad idea to use transducers that didn't come with the unit?

Yes, use transducers specifically made for your unit or you will have no end of trouble. They operate on different HZ.
