My 2006 Four Winns Horizon 180 was ordered from the factory without a depth finder/sounder. Faria and Humminbird both make several that will fit. There’s is the 2” cutout/space with the easily removed “blank” to mount the guage on the far left of the dash/instrument panel. 3 questions here: Is a through the hull or transom mount transducer better? What are pros and cons of each? If going with a transom mount type, should the transducer be mounted to some sort of block and the block mounted to the transom with some sort of waterproof/ underwater adhesive to avoid drilling in the fiberglass transom? Advice appreciated!

There is no benefit whatsoever to mount a transducer for a simple in-dash sounder on the transom. Mount it in the bilge and be done with it.

The different hull bottoms do require thought. About which will work best at all NORMAL planning speeds.
