Transducer location for mercruiser outboard boat (pic included)

I guess this is a pretty common topic, but wondering about transducer placement for a side imaging (helix 7 SI+DI) transducer for my boat as well as cable management options so that the ladder cover doesnt squish the line over and over (i didnt do the squishing - boat came like that).

Thinking about mounting in the exact same place as it looks not to be too bad but was wondering because some resources say to be as close to center of stern on an i/o boat. Thanks!

Welcome, it should not be close to the drive so it won't get any prop wash which would interfere with it. Hey got another for you @dingbat

I would have positioned it about 6" more to starboard. But I see that your bunk is in the way.

My first choice would be to reposition the boat so the bunks are not sticking out. Second choice would be to move the ducer to the starboard side of the bunk.
