Transducer interference?

I want to add a second depth/fishfinder to my boat. There is room to mount the new transducer beside the existing one but i am wondering about interference between the two sonar cones. Thanks in advance for any input.

Depending on the depth of the water you might b get away with one on each side of the boat. Side by side....no way

Re: Transducer interference?

Just make sure that the new one operates on a different frequency than the old transducer.
And not a multiple of the old transducer frequency.

Then you can mount them side by side with no problems.

If you have an 83/200 now, get a 77 or 50 or 455 on the new unit.

The other problem you might run in to, is the length of the transducer cable.
The last on I bought only came with an 18' cable. With 6' of cable being used at the transom, that only left 12' of cable to run up the side of the boat. I had to buy an extension cable.

Maybe I'm not too smart, but what reason would one have to have two fish/depth finders operating at the exact same time? If you want visibility at two different locations, get one that allows interconnections so both location see the exact same results. There are too many issues trying to make two different locators operate properly without interference and issues at the same time. Even if they are on different frequencies there are still harmonics that can interfere.

Yep, doesn't make sense. One transducer on the transom and one on a bow mount trolling motor, but next to each other?

83kHz is a secondary emission of a 200 kHz transmission and 77 khz is a secondary emission of a 50 kHZ transducer You have "ghost" with all.

+2 my thoughts exactly......why would you want two of them?? there's a lot of good fish finder/gps units out there
