My son-in-law has a bass boat with a transducer on the trolling motor. The transducer cable got pinched and cut on Saturday. Can you splice these cables and seal with adhesive shrink tubes?

Re: Transducer Cable

That is coaxial cable, G-Dad.

An old time Electronics tech might be able to do it. It depends on what the shielding is. If it is aluminum foil, forget it.

Good luck. :)

Re: Transducer Cable

Last fall I broke my transducer cable trying to pull it out from under glued down carpet. Humminbird said I couln't repair it, that I would have to replace it. I thought , what the heck, I don't have anything to lose if I try to fix it. I split both ends apart, very carefully, with a razor blade. I just spliced and taped matching stuff together and for the aluminum foil I used the indide of a cigarette pack. Then I wrapped the repair snuggly in electrical tape. It works just as good as it ever did. Wo,t hurt to try, what ya got to lose. They're kinda pricey to replace. Billbro
