I have a 16foot 73 trihull with a 85hp johnson on it.. I need to do some trailor work on it..So Im going to jack up boat and get trailor out from under it to do it..The way it is currently setup the boat sits about 2 foot off the back edge of the trailor. With bunk boards sitting on there edge that end with the edge of the boat..What I plan to do is to put new bunk boards on flat side and put swivels on them so they can adjust for the trihull and hopefully center the boat better as this is my main problem with the current setup...Now I have about a foot of room up front if I move my winch up more should I do this to bring the weigh a little more forward? Or should I leave it were it is? Thanks for help and sorry for long post

Move the boat. 80# tongue weight is not enough.

Re: trailor question

I have a 15ft trihull, my trailer has 3 keel rollers & two bunks - with the bunks being under about the back 1/4 of the boat. So the keel rollers bear most of the weight & the bunks just keep it from rocking.

I replaced the front two rollers with self-centering keel rollers:

Now it centers every time. The one at the back is still one of these:

I back in until the front roller is a little above the surface, ease the boat on until the bunks stop it, then power it on up to the bow stop.

Flat.

If you end up moving the bow stop, I'd move the bunks forward as well - but in any case, be sure your transducer (if you got one on the transom) won't hit a bunk. Might surprise you how much difference six inches will make. A tongue-light trailer will be more prone to sway, tongue-heavy will noticeably bounce or shake the tow vehicle more, in my experience.
