I need serious help. I don't know what I am doing.

The trailer that was given to me was wired for a 4 Round connector. My truck has a 4 flat connector.

The wires on the trailer are as follows:
Right side- brown and green
Left side- orange and yellow

The directions on the new 4 flat trailer plug are as follows:
white-ground
brown-tail
yellow-left turn
green-right turn

My problem is in my fumbling around I can get the directionals and the brake lights to work, but not the tail/running light?

Any info for the novice would help. Re: Trailer wiring help

this will probably be moved but-

i would tie the orange & brown together for tail lites, then green&green - yellow&yellow, white attached to trailer for ground.
-
you can buy bothe sides from a auto store.
-
i had that same problem when i rented a uhaul, they have an adapter for $7 to $15, four pole round to flat.
i keep mine in my bronco all the time now.
