Hello everyone. First I must say this forum is very useful and fun. I have a 2002 Monterey 218LS (22', 3600 pounds). My trailer is a tandom Venture VBT-4000 with surge brakes. My tow vehicle is a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. When I hit the brakes at around 45 MPH I get a bad vibration. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I had a friend tow the trailer to make sure it was not my Tahoe and it did the same thing.

Re: Trailer Vibration

I would fist start with an inspection of the brakes. From what it sounds like, pehaps a warped drum but until the drums come off it is only a guess. Check the hubs and drums to see if one is much warmer to touch than the others or if you have discs, one would appear much more glazed than the other.

If your trailer is a 2002 model, try phoning the dealer to see if they would do an inspection for your piece of mind. Good dealers will be happy to check something regarding safety to keep you happy.

Mike.
