How do I determine the trailer tongue weight? I've mated a used roller trailer to a used boat and I want to make sure the weight is not going to damage my vehicle

Tonge weight is important, but you should check overall weight as well. How big is the boat?Inboard or outboard? Fuel tank size? How many axels on the trailer?

Re: Trailer tongue weight

I've checked with the manufacturer of both the boat and trailer. I'm well within limits for a total outfit load (gas, engine, supplies, etc.). My concern has to do with how the trailer will tow, and if I need to adjust the location of the axles (2)relative to the trailer frame. I suppose moving the boat or the axles to the rear will make the tongue weight less.

Axel forward or boat back will lower the tongue weight. Don't forget a transmission cooler for the tow vwhical. Good luck an happy boating.
