hello, My question is about trailer tire ratings, and choice. I used to run the nanco bias d rated tires (14"-75) on a tandem trailer, but I slowly went to a radial tire by tire. The radial wears much better. Unfortunately they are a c rating. The boat weighs 4400 lb approx loaded and Im guessing with the trailer weight maybe 1500 Im probably around 5900 gvw. Does anyone make a d rated radial ? Or am I fine with the c rating leaving me with about 1000 lb under total load.
thanks jim

Don't remember off the top of my head about radial or bias. But I think I got d rated "trailer tires" I can look tomorrow BUTTTTT as far as Nanco tires..... junk! On one of the coasters I would work on we would use Goodyear tires and they would last about 4-5 years. Purchaser in tool crib tried to save money and started buying those things and we started changing tires every 2-3 months. I run 🏃‍♂️ away from those and also won't use jh bolts either

What size tires you running now?

My new #7450 GVWR (#6,000) trailer came with 215 75R14 Kendra Load Stars. C rated at #1870

I’ve been using those Kenda Load Star bias tires for years. Only local towing though but no failures. I change em when I see cracks starting. Usually 6-7 years. I prefer bias tires for my use…narrow driveway narrow ramp is tough on sidewalls & bias sidewalls are stronger than radial sidewalls. Radials obviously better for high speed warm weather towing. If I did that I’d get a set of GY Endurances

GY Endurance is load range D in that size. That’s probably the best tire you can get now.

I really like radial tires on my vehicle, but not a fan of them on trailers. I have found I get more sway with radials, have to balance weight more carefully. Switching to bias ply solved many of those issues, just my two cents.
