I have a 86 tee nee trailer and the tires on it are rotted. I have another 86 trailer that has new tires, but i want to switch the tires and rims. But the new tires are 205's and the rotted ones are 215's. will that matter?

Re: Trailer tires

You would lose 400 pounds or MORE of load Capacity with the smaller tires SO it really depends on whats on the tires

tommays

Re: Trailer tires

I just got a 17 foot runabout glassport boat. It has the 3.0 140 mercruiser engine. And the teen nee trailer.

Re: Trailer tires

Check the load rating on the sidewall of the tire. Multiply that number by 2 (2 tires). The weight of the trailer, boat, motor, fuel, all the gear you haul must be less than that load rating or face a blowout potential. And if you do not faithfully check inflation pressure, any amount less than the rated maximum means the load rating drops accordingly and the potential problem increases accordingly. An if these are not "ST" (Special Trailer) tires, don't bother switching them at all. Get the proper tires.
