One of my tires was wearing on the inner rib only so I pulled the wheel and hub to see what was going on. The shouler on the spindle is worn on the bottom-the part where the seal and inner bearing rides. I think that would cause the problem but what the heck caused it to wear like that?

I see that you can get replacement spindles from Champion trailer but I gotta wonder how much it would cost to have a welding shop cut off the old one and put it on?

Any ideas on what happened??
Thanks

Re: Trailer Spindle

best guess is that a bad bearing ran for a while and killed the spindle :(

Its a LOT of work to get one welded on straight VS just buyiing a new axel

Re: Trailer Spindle

Thanks for the reply-That's kinda what I was afraid of but I figured I'd ask. I have a pretty good shop nearby so I think I'll ask them anyway. Wierd thing is that the bearing I replaxed didn't look bad. Maybe it happened b-4 I bought the boat!

Re: Trailer Spindle

I've cut the old spindle off and replaced it with a new one.it's about a 1-2 hour job and can be done easily by a welding shop, and the axle will come out straight, if the welder knows what he/she is at. The trailers I repair are fine and there were no complaints for the customers.
