Trailer side marker light issue

Hey all,

I just rewired and put new lights on a trailer I recently purchased. I followed the kits directions to a T but the side markers will not light up. The rear lights work perfectly (running, blinker, break) but I can't get the side lights to work. I've cleaned the trailer with a dremmel wire brush to try and get a better connection which had no effect. I've also tried putting a wire from the grounding screw to another bolt on the trailer but no dice! I have the side light wire spliced in to the hot wire (brown) with the splicing clips. Has anyone had this happen and have any advise on how to get the side markers to work?

First things first, Longball1. :welcome: to iboats. Nice to have you aboard...

You didn't state if the lights were filaments type or LEDs. Are you sure you have an excellent connection with the brown wire for running lights positive connection and the white wire for their ground. You sound like you used the trailer frame for the ground. But did you verify the ground on the vehicle side with that white wire? Obviously you haven't made a complete circuit or the side markers would be lite as well. But you also have to know that those side lights are only going to light when you turn on parking lights or full headlines... So check the grounds from trailer to vehicle... JMHO!

Thanks for the ideas! I've tested the lights on a battery and they worked fine. They are filament lights not LED. I am grounding the system to the trailer. I'm going to have to check the connection and make sure I have a solid ground. Thanks again!
