I bought a 2002 tr21 a few months ago and it has been hopping all over the place while on the road. I fished a owners tounament in TN and saw a trailer that someone had welded tabs to and installed shocks. Anyone ever added shocks before?

I think you should try to determine why it's bouncing around.

Too much tongue weight?

Re: trailer shock instalation?

I did put shocks on a boat trailer years ago primarily because the trailer was repaired with a 250 pound piece of square stock. I found the shocks helpful, but only needed because the trailer was poorly designed and built. It really shouldn't need them so as the others have said something else must not be setup right.

You didn't state the make of trailer. Old Holsclaws were coil spring trailers. Coil springs need shocks because there is no inter-leaf friction to damp the bouncing. The shocks also limit the axle travel so the springs don't work out of their perches.
