Every state is different, you need to follow WVs requirements.

The dealer was in Ohio and only interested in selling the boat/trailer, wasnt up to him to meet WVs requirements, he doesnt sell here.

Is this the boat you posted about nearly a year ago?

Lets start w what you do have, what documents do you have specific to the trailer?

As a modern boat, I'm guessing a modern trailer, so probably not vintage or over 20yrs old?

Thanks for the response. WV requirements are about the same for trailers except no weight required an they do issue a title. Ohio needs a weight an the registration signed over. Thought the dealer who is in business doing these things would forward the signed registration. Looked an he left the trailer off the bill of sale. Boat was advertised an photo being with a trailer. I did have the hauler note both ser# on the haul bill. That is what I have.
Finally got the title for the other boat. An attorney down the road also servicef his boat there. No charge for the phone call. Guess it's just my luck these problems keep happening. Yes I know should have been more precise in checking the paper work. But a licensed dealer should be more honest in sells. Guess boat dealers have different standards.

i bought my boat and trailer from ohio and registered it in PA. boat was no problem. trailer was another story. trailer was ordered new in 1986 by the seller and had no title. there was also no VIN tag on the trailer. i had to go to the DOT website and download a form and have an enhanced inspection station verify the weights and a police officer sign off saying it wasn't stolen then take that form to the notary. i just got my title last week and my new plate and registration the other day. if you have a VIN tag on your trailer then it shouldn't be as hard. at that point i would have only needed the notary to do the transfer. call your DOT and do what they tell you. luckily i had the original manufacturers statement of origin with all weights already on it and it was notarized in 1986. the enhanced inspection station just used that form for their verification
