Hi all,
I'm getting ready to repaint an older trailer for a small fiberglass finshing boat and have a couple questions. The trailer seems to have three layers of paint on it. When I powerwash, it will take off the top two layer. Do I need to remove all layer of paint (down to bare metal) to prime and repaint. Or can I leave the last layer of paint which did not come off with the powerwash and just prime and paint?

Thanks.

If the underlaying paint is Still Stuck to the trailer,......
Why Remove it ????

Clean it,... Scuff the exisiting paint,.....Prime any Bare Metal,....... Repaint........

That's what I'd Do........ Good Luck.....

Before you prime it clean it good with a vinegar and water soluation to clean it and the paint will stick better.

If your going to spray it with a gun consider using an epoxy primer. 90% of paint work is in the prep.

Bob

Good paint has an established bond. Do not take off the good paint
