Do you need to disconnect the trailer lights from the vehicle before backing down the ramp if they are "submersible" lights? It seems I keep blowing fuses.

Re: Trailer Lights

Seems like you answered your own question. The lights might be water proof but there are several joints in the trailer wiring that could short to ground once the trailer is submerged. I always unhook

Jimmbo is correct, if everytime you back your trailer into the water a fuse blows, you should disconnect the wiring harness.

On the other hand, if everything's set up as it should be, you shouldn't have to disconnect it. I converted to all (waterproof) LED lighting for that very reason, I had a hard time remembering to reconnect the wiring harness after recovering the boat. I didn't have to replace the trailer wiring but in your case you might. It's not that hard - use a pre-made trailer wiring harness.
