trailer lights

just got a 98 dodge ram pickup.. added the wiring adapter and running lights and turn signals work but when brake is pressed lights go out or dim.. <br />have one of those lighs that go in the hitch receiver when not in use and the brake light works on that.. where am i going wrong?

You have European style wiring, TCF.<br /><br />Your turn signals are independent of the brake lights.<br /><br />You will need the adapter to make them work with the four wire harness in the trailer.<br /><br />Wally World has them, with instructions.<br /><br />Good luck.

what are they called? how much? are they similar to the little converter box that is connected to the light that connects in the hitch
