Problem starts when I turn the headlights on. None of the perimter lights or the rear lights are lit. But both turn signals and brake light up when pressed. This is not a problem in the daytime but at night. Anyone have any clue where to look. They were working fine a few days ago?

I would start with a meter at the car plug and be sure its putting out 12 volt on the running lights

many cars and trucks have different fuses for the truck running lights and the trailer running lights lights

Re: Trailer lights not working properly

A simple test is to use a battery charger to test the trailer. Connect the ground clip to the trailer frame. Put a nail int he positive clip and touch the brown wire. Side markers and tail (running) lamps (dim) should light. If some do and some don't, check each lamp for proper frame ground, bulb, wire and socket condition. MOMENTARILY touch the positive clip to the white wire. If it sparks or the meter pegs the white wire has a good ground. If not, the white wire ground to the trailer frame needs to be redone. If the trailer is fine, then the tow vehicle tail light circuit needs attention as was mentioned.

Thanks! Found the problem the extension that i use to hook up the lights to the trailer was toast. Several wires were cut and touching the others. I got a new extension and everything works fine. 8)
