Re: Trailer lights hook up to Tacoma 2001
You first need to determine if the vehicle has separate brake and turn signal lamps. If it does, you need a "trailer light converter". Trailers typically have one bulb that has two filaments. One filament is the normal tail light. The other serves two functions -- turn and brake. Therefore, if the tow vehicle has separate brake and turn lamps, thats two circuits. The trailer only has one. And no -- you can't simply connect the two circuits together. If a single bulb is used for tail, brake, and turn, then its a simple matter of connecting a four pin flat plug to the wiring on your truck. Converters and wire harnesses are available at any auto store or farm/department stores that sell auto parts.
